Six ways Dubai residents cut the bill
- Check in on a Sunday. The same suite is routinely 30–40% cheaper than the Thursday rate.
- Book the summer. July and August beach resorts sit 40–55% below February, with the same beach club and better kids' programming.
- Take breakfast in the package. Paying at the buffet costs AED 130–200 per person; bundled, it rarely adds more than AED 60.
- Ask for a 4pm checkout at booking, not at reception. It's free to request in advance, chargeable on the day.
- Compare Al Marjan. A 50-minute drive gets Palm-grade resorts at roughly 40% less.
- Read the credit terms. A "AED 300 dining credit" restricted to one outlet, dinner only, no beverages, is worth about AED 120.
The fee stack, explained
A Dubai hotel bill layers a Tourism Dirham (roughly AED 7–20 per room per night by star rating), a 10% municipality fee, a 10% service charge and 5% VAT. On an AED 900 two-night booking that's around AED 200 you didn't see on the search page.
